YourCents is built on trust. Here is exactly how we operate.

How YourCents makes money

YourCents is free for every Canadian and always will be. We do not charge subscription fees. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads.

We earn money through referrals. When you open an account with one of our partners through a link in the app, we receive a small fee from that partner. This is how YourCents stays free.

We have three rules that govern every referral recommendation:

  1. We only recommend a product that your data shows would genuinely benefit you.
  2. We never recommend a product you already have.
  3. We rank recommendations by your benefit, not by how much we earn.

If our data does not show a clear benefit to you, we do not show the referral - even if we could earn a fee.

Our recommendation ethics

Every referral card in YourCents includes a disclosure line telling you that we earn a fee if you sign up. That line is always visible - we never hide it.

We calculate the specific dollar benefit from your real data. When we say "You paid $240 in bank fees last year," that number comes from your actual imported transactions, not a generic estimate.

If you dismiss a recommendation, it will not reappear for 90 days. We respect your decision.

Your data

What we collect: Your name, email, and the financial data you import (account balances, transactions from CSV files). We do not connect directly to your bank. You control exactly what data you share by choosing which CSV files to upload.

What we never do: We never sell your data. We never share your transaction history with our partners. When a partner pays us a referral fee, they do not receive any information about you beyond that a new customer signed up.

Your rights under PIPEDA: You have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, and request deletion of your account and all associated data.

To export or delete your data: Contact us at hello@yourcents.ca and we will respond within 30 days.

Data storage: Your data is stored in a Canadian database (Canada Central region) and is never transferred outside of Canada.
